Post 2 is the Tweet Version of This Same Article :
Paragraph 1
The sense of urgency is contagious once you tap in to Twitter. I have found it entertaining and informative. If not managed effectively it could be a time drain. Like email I am going to check it often and resist the temptation to become a slave to it.
Paragraph 2
I followed too many people too quickly. I thought if someone follows me I should be polite and follow them. I ditched that philosophy on Day 3. Some people blabbed on and on about nothing too often, some RT (retweet) everything they receive, and others were crude and a little too politically charged for me from both sides of the aisle.
Paragraph 3
There are intelligent and talented people on Twitter from around the world. I am quickly growing fond of them and the international aspect of it. These gifted people are extraordinarily accessible and genuinely helpful. As a business person the expectation is to perform well and add value to the community.
Paragraph 4
I have a school girl crush on Mashable.
Paragraph 5
I am on the Ashton side of the race to 1mm followers with CNN. I agree with him. It is extraordinary that one individual can have as many followers- as large a reach - as a global, well tenured media company. That is the power of Twitter. I just saw a Tweet that CNN announced they bought someone’s sight with more than 900,000 followers for an undisclosed amount of money. CNN claims they have been working on the deal for some time. Face it. Someone at CNN knew Ashton was correct and they couldn’t afford to let him win.
Paragraph 6
After 5 days I see some of the old tweets making their rounds for a second or third time. I thought the info was just working its way through the various groups, yet today I noticed a couple of people who reintroduced their same material.
Paragraph 7
The Tweet Deck is a life saver! I found out today it actually has five windows if you scroll across it. Duh! I didn’t notice the scroll bar across the bottom.
Paragraph 8
Twitter is wonderful entertainment for pop culture lovers with time on their hands. As a businesswoman I can already see that it will become indispensable for me personally and a critical business tool for my company.
Paragraph 9
There have been technical issues which I understand are common. At times the system doesn’t respond for a moment or two. I have heard they have less than 50 employees. Clearly understaffed and certainly overworked. They are more than a week behind updating records. This is day 5 for me and I still do not show up in the directory nor has my help desk ticket been assigned to someone for remedy. To be fair they had their first worm attack this weekend. It had to be brutal for those folks. I am not sure how it was for them on the inside. As a user it wasn’t so bad. They deserve our support and patience.
Paragraph 10
Rumor has it that they will be picked up within the year by Google or someone else.
Paragraph 11
I watched an online video interview with the adorable twenty something fellows who are the founders. They spoke valiantly of the merit of value before profits. It made me homesick for the good old dot com days. As a business owner of a service company I have to balance value and profit. Rumor has it they turned down a $500mm offer for Twitter and the value continues to increase even without a plan to make money. They have proven their value before profit philosophy. Congratulations, gentleman and thanks for a great tool!
